Miss USA Nia Sanchez got engaged Saturday night to 21 & Over actor Daniel Booko on a romantic terrace in New York City, GoodGuySwag.com and SheIsMore.com reporting exclusively in a partnership with RumorFix.com.
It’s a privilege to break the news as Daniel originally saw Nia at Kristen’s and my engagement party long before Nia was Miss USA. When he saw her, he said, “That’s the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen.” 3 month later, he saw her at Mosaic, a church in LA, and tells us, “I walked up to her and said, ‘Hey you’re Nia Sanchez and struck up a conversation that way.”
In one of the most popular articles, 10 Ways To Win A Girl’s Heart (May 2013), I included how Daniel pursued Nia by taking her on a hike to waterfalls, to the Getty museum, the zoo, and a pottery shop. They’ve been dating for a year and a half.
Booko was planning a marriage proposal months before Sanchez was to compete at the 2014 Miss USA pageant. Then on June 8, 2014, Sanchez won the Miss USA title in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and immediately moved to New York.
How did he do it?
He secretly flew to New York, where Nia is currently living as the reigning beauty queen, “and she has a few of her best friends visiting her this weekend so I said ‘What better time to surprise her? She has no idea i’m flying in.'”
He’s rented the Suite Royale at the NoMad Hotel, which has a huge 700 square foot private terrace. “She’s thinking she’s going to an event with friends … [and] i will be there looking all dapper in a suit decorated with candles and flowers and the whole thing and have her come over — just her and I to have an intimate moment — then get down on one knee and propose then pop champagne and celebrate.”
Daniel began ring shopping a few months ago, and found the right stone with the help of Peter Yung, a jeweler at Intagems in LA, Together they designed an amazing engagement ring as you can see:
49 sparkling white diamonds in the gallery, ring shank and halos surround the center 2-carat diamond. The two halos represent both of them holding the sparkling diamond as the center of their love. Together, a total of 50 brilliant diamonds symbolize the 50 states of the USA.
There are other special touches to Nia’s ring including an elongated, modified “U” that stands for USA, which can be seen from the side profile that holds the diamond. On the inside ring shank are a red ruby, a white diamond, and a blue sapphire painting the patriotic colors of American flag that will touch Nia’s ring finger.
The three stones on the inside also have another meaning. “We’re both people of faith,” Daniel says. “I love the three diamonds as the trinity — Father, the son and the Holy Spirit.”
Booko said, “This is an important year in Nia’s life as Miss USA. No matter what happens in our lives, for always and forever, Nia is my love and my Miss USA.”
Nia is currently preparing for the Miss Universe pageant to be held in Miami, FL, and Daniel has a lead roles in the upcoming movies Eyewitness and Superfast.
