It’s tough enough to aim for high and lofty things when cheap, easy, and convenient occupy a majority of our time thanks to the onslaught of social media.
But if you want a girl who is lovely and pure, you can begin by keeping your mind and thoughts on these positive things.
Lose your focus, and you may lose your ability to see her when she finally comes your way.
Is the world around us becoming less pure and lovely or is it just our thoughts?
After all, what is true? What is honorable? What is right? What is pure? What is lovely? And what is admirable? Can you think of examples?
One thing is for certain: when I encounter what fits any one of the descriptions above, I can feel it. But I find it difficult to describe and explain these ideals because they seem unreachable and downright impossible. In fact, I use this quote by Carl Schurtz in my book, 10 Ways To Win A Girl’s Heart:
Ideals are like stars; you will not succeed in touching them with your hands. But like the seafaring man on the desert of waters, you choose them as your guides, and following them you will reach your destiny.
When our minds are not focused on positive and uplifting things, we lose our guidance. We may lose our ability to recognize them, even when they are knocking on our doors. This can affect our daily choices.
And it can certainly affect the girls we choose to date.
If I could just live my life a little bit more like the cartoon character, Winnie the Pooh, who said,
Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.
Let that be a reminder. Seemingly small things like envy, hate, anger, and pride can take up a lot of room in our lives. Just a drop of porn can muddy up clarity.
Proverbs 26:22 speaks towards the danger of seemingly small things:
Rumors are dainty morsels that sink deep into one’s heart.
What is pure? Everything should be according to Titus:
Everything is pure to those whose hearts are pure. But nothing is pure to those who are corrupt and unbelieving, because their minds and consciences are corrupted.
The ancient scriptures make a promise that the pure in heart will see God. When you keep your mind focused on good things, you will see God in everything.
This brings me to my final point: I remember my college days when my buddies and I would say we were going to meet a pure and lovely girl. But, the catch is, we don’t get to be the judge. When you see purity in everything, you will see the purity and loveliness in her.
If you become too consumed with self love, you become too self-centered–a weak basis for love. Instead,
Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy.
