10 Differences Between Dating a Girl and a Woman

Difference between dating a girl and a woman

A woman can be found at almost any age because maturity defines a woman more than years.

I just published 10 Differences Between a Boy and a Man, and I was asked what defines a girl and a woman. After a week of consideration, here we go…

10 Differences Between Dating A Girl and A Woman

1. A girl is selfie-obsessed, but a woman is selfless

This isn’t just about a Snapchat and Instagram addiction (aren’t we all a bit guilty?). Are the selfies in fun or do they point to a bigger issue…does she care about others? It’s what’s behind the madness that matters. Is she more concerned with numbers of followers or making a difference to others? I hate to say it, but Bieber dropped some wisdom:

‘Cause if you like the way you look that much, oh baby, you should go and love yourself.

2. A girl gossips, but a woman stands up for others

Perhaps life is just too boring or maybe jealousy is to blame, but some women love to stir up drama (no surprises here). This type of pandemonium is unheard of with a woman, though, because: a) she’s too busy going for her dreams to waste her time, and b) because she’s focused on helping others achieve their full potential.

You don’t want to date a girl who gossips and causes division. Just like her, you’ll waste your time getting wrapped up in minor scuffles. Not to mention, she’ll probably do the same thing to you with her family and friends.

3. A girl makes subtle digs and is passive-aggressive, but a woman is honest and genuinely compliments

I reference this alien communication in 10 Ways To Win A Girl’s Heart. When I got married, I discovered this strange phenomenon where women say sweet things to each other with a malicious undertone–highly prevalent in the South btw. Trying to decipher this interaction is exhausting enough, so I’d encourage you to save your energy by dating a woman.

A woman builds you up to make you feel like you’re more of a man.

4. A girl is manipulative, but a woman is open

How does she react when things aren’t going her way? Does she scheme to get what she wants? There’s nothing wrong with a bit of shrewdness, but a woman is open and is willing to surrender her plans and ideas to a greater possibility.

A woman is willing to try something new and is up for adventure–a quality almost every guy can get behind.

5. A girl expects and is entitled, but a woman is appreciative

A girl talks about the size of diamond and types of jewelry she expects. But, it’s a lot more fun when you date a woman who isn’t concerned with material  expectations. She’ll be stunned by a simple gift.

Warning: once the privileged girl gets what she wants, she immediately starts plotting what she wants next (usually based on what her friends have). A woman relishes in a good gift.

6. A girl tries way too hard, but a woman is demure

I found a new manhood emerge as I pursued Kristen. She had high standards, and winning her over was like passing the test of the gods in Greek mythology.

Times have changed, and girls now ask guys out–nothing inherently wrong with it. But something always felt off when I was the one getting pursued. Maybe it’s because I wanted to awaken the inner Romeo and engage in the adventure in pursuing and winning a woman.

7. A girl jumps to conclusions, but a woman seeks understanding

A girl assumes the worst intention behind everything. If she’s offended she immediately goes on the defensive.

A woman, on the otherhand, has good discernment. She assumes the best unless she’s proven otherwise.

8. A girl wants you to change, but a woman loves you “as is”

I’ve talked to girls who date guys, hoping they’ll eventually change. News flash: not gonna happen. A guy is much more willing to become a better man when he knows he’s loved unconditionally.

If you have to earn love in a relationship by acting a certain way, you’re with a girl. A woman’s love is unchanging, and it was will last through the tough times.

9. A girl is lazy, but a woman is a boss

A girl waits for something to happen. She only wants to be taken care of. A woman, on the other hand, knows what she wants and goes for it.

10. A girl flirts with many, but a woman is loyal to one

A girl is needy and she gets these needs met by stirring attention from other guys. I can’t think of much more disrespectful to a man.

You can trust a woman. She has healthy self-esteem and she’s aware how her interactions will affect you.

As I think about all the differences between dating a girl and a woman, I realize all the attributes of a woman point to a life more simple and relaxed.

A girl saps all of your energy, and this is why it’s good to pay attention. Maybe you’re fine with the games now, but down the road when work gets tough and the stress of life wants to get to you, you’ll appreciate a woman.

A woman will help you achieve your goals. A power couple is a woman and a man, never a boy and girl.

Good analysis of one of life’s most mysterious and cryptic – and wonderful – creatures. After being on this earth for 62 years, sometimes I feel like I’m just beginning to learn. Then at other times, I realize that it’s really pretty simple – treat her like a queen and she will treat you like a king. What does it take to treat her like a queen? Fortunately, there is Good Guy Swag and several other good resources on the web to help answer that question. It’s part of my regular reading list. Thank you for writing Good Guy Swag.

    On point 1:
How does that square with your wifes instagram account?

Not sure why I didn’t see this in February when you post it, Christian. I encouraged Kristen to start an Instagram back in the day. Why do you believe #1 relates to her?
