It’s the most wonderful time of the year

…until it comes to shopping for gifts for your significant other. “What do I get her for Christmas?”

Black Friday marks the beginning of a very stressful time period for us guys. Suit up. It’s time to go shopping for her. Yes, it’s that mind-boggling and tortuous season of racking your brain for a suitable gift that hopefully won’t end up in exchange or credit.

On this past notorious Friday afternoon, we headed to Target to pick up some Christmas lights. As we’re walking by the aisles, “shopping ADHD” befalls Kristen. At first I’m slightly annoyed for the simple reason us guys want to grab and go, but then it occurs to me: I should be taking mental snapshots of her favorite items.. Scratch that. I pulled out my phone hoping to take some discreet pictures. Except the first shot was with flash and may have given my secret away.

So, the message is simple here: throw on the excited mask and act like you want to go shopping. As you walk past the windows and the aisles: watch, listen, and observe. Listening will always score you bonus points. However, if you’re plumb out of ideas, there’s no need to fear. Former Miss USAs and state titleholders came together to make sure you win with her this Christmas. So, here they are:

7 Holiday Gift Ideas From 7 Beauty Queens

1. A Weekend Get-Away

From Alyssa Campanella (Miss USA 2011)

Don’t just choose any place. Choose a place that will really mean something to her. For instance, my boyfriend knows I love the snow, so he takes me to up into the mountains to stay at a cabin or we’ll go to a ski resort for a weekend vacation.

2. Name A Star After Her

From Alicia Blanco (Miss Arizona USA 2009)

Warning: this is only if your woman is a hopeless romantic because some girls might think this is cheesy, but I think it’s because romance and chivalry have been so badly ruined and tainted.

3. A Stocking Full Of Her Favorites

From Claire Schreiner (Miss Wyoming USA 2010)

This doesn’t have to be expensive. You can fill it with her favorite candy, favorite lip gloss, a gift card to her favorite coffee shop, a journal, a book she might like, a DVD of her favorite movie, a nail polish color she wears often, or a t-shirt with her favorite sports team on it.

4. A Spa Day

From Tami Farrell (Miss Teen USA 2003/Miss California USA 2009)

Splurge gifts are great. A spa package for a massage, mani/pedi and facial is amazing. Couples massages are fun too. You get to spend the day in relaxation together.

5. A Nice Dress and Dinner

From Meagan Tandy (Miss California USA 2007, MTV’s Teen Wolf)

Get her a nice dress, but don’t stop there: include tickets to a show, a play, or an opera for her to wear the dress to.

6. A Photo Book

From Nia Sanchez (Miss USA 2014)

I know guys don’t like scrapbooking, but when my boyfriend takes the time to put together an album of our memories, I’m completely won over. It’s so sweet and thoughtful. It’s not an expensive gift, but little things always count big.

7. Jewelry

From Kristen Dalton-Wolfe (Miss USA 2009)

I will die over a beautiful, special piece of jewelry. I love being able to wear a nice piece from my man on a daily basis because it makes me feel spoiled. It’s my favorite thing to unwrap a piece that has a special meaning, like for me it would be a cross. To really top it off, engrave it with either your initials, “I love you”, the Christmas date, or a quote.

Start thinking now. Don’t get caught in the check-out line on Christmas Eve. Don’t be that guy…be a good guy.

I am very disappointed in your posts. You are writing about dating, courtship, marriage but use no scripture to reinforce your opinions. Opionions and wordily gift lists are not what readers need. Readers need the word of God to guide them through the tumultuous waters of life before marriage. When they are on their knees seeking Gods will for their future. Gods will not mans opinion. Your 7 gift ideas from celebrities begins by suggesting that an unmarried couple spend the weekend away. You are promoting fornication by reprinting that list. I would like to suggest you adhere to the word of God when trying to advise your readers. I would also suggest you examine everything you wish to print, alongside the word of God.

Thank you for coming to the site Joyce. While I am a believer, this site is not targeted towards believers. There are many atheists who come to this site, and just like my real home, I am attempting to create an atmosphere they will feel comfortable in. I might interview people who have different views and ideas than me, and I am ok with that; I am not here to judge anyone. That being said, I think if you look a little closer to the articles on dating, especially “The Wife List” and “Prick, Passive or Prince Charming,” you will find many scripture references.
